Whetham Quarter Horses
For Sale We have moved to Belle Fourche and only had the space to run a few horses. We let most of the horses go last fall and don't have anything but this years' colts and one of our herd sires for sale. We try and sell our colts right off of the mares. We do have a few individuals that purchase our colts with the intention of growing them up and breaking them out for resale. If you are looking for something specific, please contact us and we might be able to help you find what you are looking for through one of our current customers.
**********I could talk to you all day about how gentle our horses are but they say a picture is worth a 1,000 words**********
The picture on the left is of Aubree meeting the mares in August of 2008. On the right is the Westphals meeting Sis when she was just a few hours old. People are always amazed when they come to our place that the horses come up to visit also no matter how big the pasture is. Our horses love people and attention. The only way you can get hurt around here is if a dominant mare chases one of the younger ones away because she wants more attention herself.
Sak Em Silk Flicka AQHA #5104907 2008 Dun Mare
Lucky and Woody teamed up to produce this nice 2008 filly. The first 2 pictures are from April of this year. The last 2 are from the end of June. She was sold last fall but the party was unable to make the payments. She is quiet and gentle but hasn't had much done with her. We normally sell the colts right off the mare for $1,000. I don't have enough room for her and can't breed her to my stallion. The people that have ridden this cross tell me that they have fabulous minds and are exceptionally trainable. Just look at the pedigree here - Orphan Drift, Peppy San, Docs Jack Frost, Doc Bar, Wilywood on top crossed with Leo and Go Man Go on the bottom side. She is not going to be real big but she will be pretty and stout. Here is a great opportunity for a fabulous rider at only $600.
Sak Em Skeeter AQHA #4243067 2002 Dun Mare
I missed Skeeter's heat cycle last year and didn't get her bred before we shipped Gunner off to Wisconsin. This is my favorite daughter of Woody. Skeeter is 15.3 hands tall and simply put.....gorgeous. She has that unique cream colored buckskin look but is a dun complete with tiger and dorsal striping. Skeeter is on the right and Sierra is on the left in the 3rd picture. I can't breed her to Woody and cannot justify hauling her to outside sires in this market. Break her out or breed her to the stallion of your choice - $750.
LR MS Hancock Twist AQHA #5017809 2007 Buckskin Mare
Now here is something you don't see everyday. This buckskin filly is by Revue Hancock, a 16 hand blue roan stallion by Hancock's Blue Boy, and out of a Go Man Go, Jet Deck bred mare. I bought this filly from the Lauing Ranch. She is going to be nice. This filly has some bone under her, is exceptionally easy to work with and has a unique roan buckskin color. She has been parentage verified and it is noted right on her papers that she carries the roan gene. In the summer, her legs are black on the bottom, then appear to be blue roan converting into buckskin on the top. This mare would make a fabulous ranch or arena horse with the color, conformation and bloodlines to breed afterwards. You can buy her now for only $2,000. UPDATE - LR MS Hancock Twist was bred to Sak Em Wily Wood on 4/22/2010.........
--------------------------SOLD------------------------------- Sakem Peppy Sierra AQHA # 4847544 2006 Buckskin Mare
We were going to keep this outstanding mare out of Olenas Peppy Badger and Sage Wood, a daughter of Woody, for ourselves but decided to let her go for the right price. We kept her full brother for our own use. He is an exceptional animal that I took to a branding with only 4 rides on and pulled 20 calves from the pen. Sierra was not ridden and has been used as a brood mare. She lost her first colt last spring to a freak accident. He was a gorgeous buckskin horse colt with a blaze and 3 socks. She was bred on one heat cycle last year before Gunner went to Wisconsin but ended up open this year. She is sound to breed but I can't breed her to my existing stallion. She loves attention and will come right up to you in the pasture.
Sold to Marti from South Dakota. You going to love this one. Keep us posted on how she is doing.
------------------------------------------------------------------SOLD------------------------------------------------------------------- Snips Mr Te AQHA # 3946389 2000 Bay Roan Gelding
The first 2 pictures are of Josh and Mr. T heeling. The head horse is a full sister to Mr. T's dam. The 3rd picture is Mr. T and Josh heading. Below are pictures taken in August of 2009. I raised this horse and gave him to my son, Josh, when he was 11. As a yearling, he was riding 1/4 mile away from the house with nothing on him to shut the gate. From 2004 on, Josh used Mr. T exclusively for team and calf roping in high school rodeo, 4-H rodeo and jackpots. He continued to use him for calf and team roping the first year of college until Josh took his knee out in a practice chute dogging in the spring of 2008. Josh decided not to rodeo in the fall of 2009 as his knee would no longer reasonably allow him to calf rope or steer wrestle. Josh was home for the summer. We teamed roped off of him twice a week for most of the summer. Mr. T is finished on both ends in team roping. He is also finished as a calf roping horse although he has not been used in that capacity since the South Dakota 4-H finals in August of 2008.
Sold to Eric of Iowa...............Mr. T went to a good home. I look for him to be used by the entire family for just about everything. Thanks Eric....you and your family will love him.
